About Us

The Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ANECO) is a non-stock, non-profit, service oriented electric cooperative responsible for the distribution of power to the households, business establishments and industries.

ANECO, Inc. has been formed in accordance with the provision of Presidential Decree or PD 269 under the National Electrification Administration (NEA). It was incorporated on February 12, 1977.

In its operation, ANECO distributes power to the two (2) cities Butuan and Cabadbaran and ten municipalities that comprise the rest of Agusan del Norte namely, Las Nieves, RTR, Santiago, Tubay, Magallanes, Jabonga, Kitcharao, Nasipit, Buenavista and Carmen.

ANECO, Inc. is serving almost 137,000 member-consumers in the entire Butuan City and Province of Agusan del Norte. The member-consumers of ANECO, Inc. are categorized as follows: residential, low-voltage, and high-voltage. Each category is billed with different rate.

BRIEF HISTORY OF ANECO

1976 - Our humble beginning . . .

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) invited the Provincial Electrification Team headed by Governor Consuelo V. Calo, Atty. Zacarias Rasco, Mr. Alejandro Malicay and several provincial officials for the possible organization of the AGUSAN DEL NORTE ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC (ANECO).

The NEA Cooperative Development Division Team under the leadership of Mr. Gil B. Medina initiated the organization of ANECO by forming the following districts:

- District I – North Butuan (North of Zamora St.)
- District II – South Butuan (South of Zamora)
- District III – Cabadbaran and Magallanes
- District IV – Nasipit and Carmen
- District V – Buenavista
- District VI – Las Nieves

January 30 to February 1, 1977

The NEA Coop Development Team headed by Mr. Simplicio Cabrera and Mr. Ciriaco Mesalucha conducted the first DEC1/MEC2 RURAL ELECTRIFICATION SEMINAR. All town Mayors and Officials of the District Electrification Committee and Board Members of ANECO were present during the 2-day seminar.

February 12, 1977

“ANECO was registered and incorporated with NEA”

May 18, 1977

This day marked the signing of the coop’s loan contract amounting to P14.2 million, payable within a period of 30 years with five (5) years grace period. The NEA Administrator, Gen. Pedro G. Dumol and the Coop President, Antonio L. Suarez executed the signing of the Loan contract and was witnessed by Governor Consuelo V. Calo and Mayor Figurado O. Plaza at the Timber City Academy Auditorium.

June 1, 1977

Gen. Pedro G. Dumol detailed the Chief of SPO-LP, Engr. Socrates L Alattica, to act as General Manager of ANECO. The Adrian Wilson International Associates (AWIA) was also awarded the Architecture and Engineering Consultant of the Coop.

June 13, 1977

Engr. Socrates L. Alattica started the organization of the coop’s working force.

June 22, 1977

The National Electrification Administration granted the PROVISIONAL CERTIFICATE OF FRANCHISE to the coop to operate an electric light and power service in the areas, which presently comprised the following city and municipalities:

- Nasipit
- Tubay
- Buenavista
- Jabonga
- Nieves
- Kitcharao
- Magallanes

July 1977

The first 5-MVA Substation transformer of the coop was put-up through force account under the sub-contract work of Susipatro D. Busa Construction Firm.

September 21, 1977

Task Force “Tinabangay 77” composed of DANECO, DASURECO, SURSECO and ANECO teams erected the first pole of the tie line of the coop substation at Barangay Ampayon, to respond to the challenge of General Pedro G. Dumol to the coop to energize the municipality of Cabadbaran and Butuan City simultaneously on December 12, 1977.
