These plants generate electricity at very high voltages to allow efficient transmission over long distances. 2. Transmission Lines Electricity travels through high-voltage transmission lines supported by tall towers. These lines carry electricity across cities and regions. The high voltage reduces energy loss during transport. 3. Substation At substations, the voltage of electricity is reduced using transformers.
